Did your Vox Ducum "probable destiny" come true? How about a school story?
I didn't write anything in my Vox Ducum bio, so here I am 40 years later still drifting along...
My favourite school memory is from Grade 11 when our Senior Boys Basket Team went to the Howard S. Billings Annual Basketball Tournament and won it as dark horses, beating John Rennie High School in the Final. We had the help of Neil Tolchinsky and Paul Johnson from our Jr. team who went on to win the Greater Montreal City Jr. Championship. Other than our defeat of Wager H. S. in our first game of the season, on the strength of a great game by Michael Rowland, the season wasn't very successful but it was a wonderful team and great group of guys!
A great school memory is being at Murray Hill Park in the spring of 1975 and driving to Elmhurst Dairy with a carload of 7-8 classmates in a yellow Pinto.
Another memory was going on a school ski trip to Mont Tremblant. It was a cold blue sky day, so cold the air bit as it entered the lungs. There was no time to think about the cold as Jim Harvey and I went up and down on the Expo, the moguls huge and the icy conditions calling for concentration and focus, leaving us sweating by the time we got to the bottom. Those were the days!
